My name is Paula Stone and I share my life with my old lurcher Lenny, puppy Arya, young horse Torvi, Polo the pony and the Macstone flock of sheep and hens. I have owned dogs my whole life, from puppies to rescue dogs. Having really enjoyed the experience of raising and training my own dogs in other clubs and at home and having a keen interest in canine behaviour, when the opportunity arose to turn my passion into a job I made the decision to set up Brontë Canine Services. This was in 2016 and I've not looked back!
I am a full member of the Pet Professional Guild, I sign up to and practice the ethics of No pain, No force, No fear. Over a 3 year period I have gained parts 1 and 2 qualifications as a dog training instructor and later gaining the advanced certificate from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). I am now a full member of the Association, one of only 4 across the Bradford District. More recently I have been working towards gaining my Advanced Diploma (Level 5 - foundation degree) in Canine Behaviour Management. This will not only broaden my understanding but also allow expansion of the business to incorporate canine behavioural consultations. In addition to my qualifications as a dog trainer, I also have a BA Honors degree in Youth and Community Development and over 15 years experience in delivering sessions to groups. I recognise that it is essential to engage and understand all learners - including the people!
I am passionate about animal welfare. I believe in setting the dog up to succeed and then rewarding the behaviour. I do not use methods that promote fear to communicate with dogs.
